This scarab beetle brooch is quite a statement brooch but has a small brooch back glued horizontally on the back at the top and a strong magnet at the bottom so this keeps the brooch nice and steady when worn. It features a recycled acrylic made from blue offcuts which has iridescent flakes running through it. The rest of the design features a blue transparent acrylic and two different shades of blue mirror acrylic. Pieces that use recycled acrylic may be more limited in numbers than my usual range.

The design measures approximately 52(h)mm x 105mm(w). I recommend keeping the foam from the box provided, between the magnets as they can get damaged if they come together without it with force. Please also bare in mind that the although the magnets are very secure they may appear to have a gap due to being over two pieces of acrylic.
There will be variation in the recycled acrylic; no two will look exactly the same and the iridescent acrylic can look slightly different between each piece too. All work is solely done by Rock The Panda designer and maker Ruth Anna Moore in Sheffield, United Kingdom.
The brooch has the Rock The Panda logo and year made engraved on the back and comes in it's own box. All Rock The Panda designs will be limited. They won't ever be mass produced.

About the recycled acrylic -

I've kept all my acrylic offcuts since I started Rock The Panda back in 2018 as I knew that one day there would be a way to use them. That day has come! I'm now able to recycle acrylic into new sheets with heat, pressure, time and care. It's very exciting and means that my little business has become a lot more environmentally friendly.

I've also developed the technique further through experimenting which involves adding a thin layer of clear acrylic on top. This creates a better finish and cut that enables me to use it within more complex designs and this is the type I will mostly use from now on.

Each new small sheet takes a long time to make; I can only really make 1 (about a 18cm square surface) sheet a day and they require a lot of attention to ensure that the result is properly fused together. It is a process I experimented with for a few weeks prior to getting a usable sheet!

Although a machine is involved in the making of the recycled acrylic and the new type is very similar looking to regular non recycled acrylic please bear in mind that there may be tiny surface marks, little dimples, varying thicknesses and occasionally raised areas around thin sections of the design (this doesn't happen often though).

Important Info -
Due to my works handmade nature and the fact that some of the acrylic sheet is handmade itself, there will be slight differences in each piece and may be minor imperfections.
Stainless steel is very resilient to tarnish but it may darken slightly over time.

Acrylic can be quite delicate. Handle with care, clean with a soft microfibre cloth and keep your brooch/necklace in the box provided when not being worn. Each piece is water resistant but not waterproof. Please don't immerse in water.

Shipping -
Orders are shipped in either boxes or in thick padded jiffy green envelopes both of which are recyclable. Tissue paper is used as padding and also biodegradable bubble wrap to protect pieces such as necklaces. Please re use or recycle the packaging responsibly.

This Scarab Beetle is striking. The new recycled acrylic colours blend perfectly giving it an attractive, deep, warm regal touch. Very attractive!
