PRE ORDER Turtle Necklace (featuring in house recycled acrylic)

I've been eager to finally get onto making underwater creatures as it's so rich with inspiration. I wanted to create some more recycled pieces and I envisioned a turtle with a recycled shell and created a recycled sheet from 3 offcuts and some gold foil embedded and this is the design I came up with. I've also backed it with a 4mm American black walnut veneered MDF and it has a thin plywood layer to add depth too. The wood creates a more earthy, eco friendly look to the piece whilst making it more robust and lightweight.

This is a cute looking necklace that measures approximately h79mm x W85mm when worn (at the intended angle), yet it is light and easy piece to wear. The chain is gold plated stainless steel and measures approximately 42cm with a 8cm extender chain. The green reptiles scales on the turtle are achieved by engraving the kiwi green mirror acrylic underneath and then it's painted with a very dark brown acrylic paint in several coats. The final look is very effective and shines beautifully. The rest of the piece is made from entirely cut acrylic pieces. The recycled acrylic is inserted into the gold metallic frame to create the shell and due to the sheets being handmade by me in the studio and also due to the variation, each turtles shell will be unique. They will be allocated at random.

May be tiny, slight marks on the lower gold piece from the brown inlaid pieces, but I am checking pieces. There's also a chance the upper middle piece isn't completely flush due to the recycled acrylic thickness but it won't come off and it won't be a big gap. 

All work is solely done by Rock The Panda designer and maker Ruth Anna Moore in Sheffield, United Kingdom. 
The necklace has the Rock The Panda logo and year it was designed (2026) engraved on the back, and comes in it's own box.

All Rock The Panda designs will be limited. They won't ever be mass produced.

About the recycled acrylic - 

I've kept all my acrylic offcuts since I started Rock The Panda back in 2018 as I knew that one day there would be a way to use them. That day has come! I'm now able to recycle acrylic into new sheets with heat, pressure, time and care. It's very exciting and means that my little business has become a lot more environmentally friendly.

Each new small sheet takes a long time to make; I can only really make 1 (about a 18cm square surface) sheet a day and they require a lot of attention to ensure that the result is properly fused together. It is a process I experimented with for a few weeks prior to getting a usable sheet!

Although a machine is involved in the making of the recycled acrylic and the new type is very similar looking to regular non recycled acrylic please bear in mind that there may be tiny surface marks, little dimples, varying thicknesses and occasionally raised areas around thin sections of the design (this doesn't happen often though).

Important Info -

Due to my works handmade nature and the fact that some of the acrylic sheet is handmade itself, there will be slight differences in each piece and may be minor imperfections. 
Stainless steel is very resilient to tarnish but it may darken slightly over time.

Acrylic can be quite delicate. Handle with care, clean with a soft microfibre cloth and keep your brooch/necklace in the box provided when not being worn. Each piece is water resistant but not waterproof. Please don't immerse in water. Some acrylic, particularly pearl marble acrylic can deteriorate with time (years usually). The surface becomes slightly of pitted/blemished. This can't be avoided unfortunately.

Please be aware that different lighting and being viewed on various screens can show colours slightly differently.

Safety Information -

Rock The Panda acrylic jewellery is not a toy. Please keep out of reach of children under 3 years old due to small parts and a potential choking hazard. Chains on necklaces may be a strangulation hazard, particularly if they get entangled or caught on other objects. Wear with care. Brooch pins may cause pricking injury if mishandled. Handle with care, keep them pinned to the foam pad provided or on clothes when worn. If the acrylic of a product is broken from eg. dropping, sharp edges may occur and may cause injury such as cuts and scratches if mishandled whilst loose pieces may be a choking hazard.

Rock The Panda acrylic jewellery is also not suitable for children under 12 years old.

The chains and findings used comply with British and European nickel release regulations (REACH Standards)
